Healthcare districts are public entities that provide community‑based healthcare services to residents throughout the geographic area they serve.

Antelope Valley Healthcare District (AVHD) is a member of the Association of California Healthcare Districts (ACHD).

Each of California's healthcare districts is governed by a locally elected board of directors who are directly accountable to the communities they serve.

The AVHD’s five publicly elected directors oversee the activities of the district in accordance with the district’s bylaws and state law governing healthcare districts. This board is tasked with providing organizational oversight and ensuring that the district’s mission and vision are carried out.
