Alecto Healthcare Selected to Provide Management Services to Antelope Valley Medical Center

(LANCASTER, Calif.) – Alecto Healthcare Services has been selected to provide management services to Antelope Valley Healthcare District (AVHD) and Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC). The privately held Irvine-based company was chosen over another management firm and two individual CEO candidates who comprised the finalist field to fill the hospital’s current management vacancy.
The selection of Alecto was made at a public board meeting last night. In announcing the decision, Board Chair Doddanna Krishna, M.D., said that Alecto brings “an extensive background in healthcare quality, financial stewardship and innovative program development; and its deep and broad experience with other similar hospitals will serve our community well as we face the many changes and challenges currently confronting the healthcare industry.”
Alecto’s management team has more than 100 years of experience in operating and managing acute care hospitals in California and around the country. Its head of patient financial services, Pam Hinson, served as vice president of business, revenue and patient care coordination at AVMC from 2007 to 2014 and as the hospital’s interim CEO in 2013.
“Antelope Valley Medical Center has a rich history of providing quality care in this community; and Alecto looks forward to working with local healthcare providers, health plans, hospital staff and other interested parties in forging the long-term strategic success of AVMC,” said Lex Reddy, CEO of Alecto. “Each hospital is unique and presents a different set of challenges, but the solution always involves a strong commitment to the hospital’s employees, physicians and patients. Our commitment is not only to the hospital, but to the community and its healthcare needs.”
Among its current assignments, Alecto has been managing 217-bed St. Rose Hospital in Hayward for the past three years. During that time Alecto turned St. Rose from a hospital that was on the brink of financial collapse into a financially viable nonprofit community hospital that plays a key role in Alameda County’s healthcare safety net, serving the sick and poor. It has gained the support of elected officials, community leaders and other healthcare providers. Alecto also owns three hospitals including Olympia Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Alecto’s management of AVMC takes effect immediately. Ultimate authority for AVMC’s operations, financial stewardship and strategic direction will continue to reside with the AVHD board of directors.
