(LANCASTER, Calif., October 27, 2026) — Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC) recently celebrated the opening of its new Women's Imaging Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking an important investment in comprehensive screening and diagnostic mammography services.
The new program features advanced 3D mammography with tomosynthesis, a leading-edge imaging technology that produces highly detailed breast images, helping radiologists detect and evaluate breast abnormalities with greater precision. The service is supported by a specialized Women's Imaging team that includes dedicated mammography technologists and radiologists with expertise in breast imaging.
"We are committed to removing barriers to healthcare and providing services that help people take charge of their health," said Edward Mirzabegian, Chief Executive Officer of Antelope Valley Medical Center. "By bringing mammography services directly to our campus, we are making it easier to access preventive care while also ensuring that eligible hospitalized patients can receive important diagnostic and screening services without delays."
As a comprehensive community cancer center, the addition of mammography services reflects AVMC's ongoing investment in women's health and preventive cancer care. Approximately 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer during their lifetime, making routine screening one of the most important tools for early detection and successful treatment.
Services available at AVMC include:
- Screening mammograms
- Diagnostic mammograms
- Breast biopsies
- Needle localizations
- Stereotactic breast procedures
Located on the first floor of the main hospital at 1600 West Ave J in Lancaster California, the new service offers convenient access to breast health screenings in a familiar healthcare setting. For hospitalized patients, on-site mammography services enhance the continuum of care and provide access to diagnostic imaging when clinically appropriate.
"This investment is about more than adding a new service line," said Mirzabegian. "It's about providing peace of mind, improving access to care, and supporting healthier outcomes for the women we serve, including members of our own AVMC family."
