(LANCASTER, CA – April 9, 2026) —With a symbolic raising of the Donate Life flag, Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC) and OneLegacy marked the start of National Donate Life Month, a nationwide observance dedicated to honoring organ, eye and tissue donors. The ceremony served as a tribute to the selflessness of donors and their families, recognized the lives transformed through transplantation, and highlighted the ongoing need for registered donors.
“Organ donation saves lives—every donor represents hope and a second chance at life,” said Edward Mirzabegian, Chief Executive Officer ofAntelope Valley Medical Center. “By raising the Donate Life flag in partnership with OneLegacy, we reaffirm our commitment to honoring donors and their families while encouraging our community to take action.”
“Over the past few years, we have seen meaningful progress here, not just in numbers, but in the way teams come together. This is the result of leadership, physicians, nurses, and staff working side by side with purpose and compassion,” said Nissa Casey, Regional Clinical Director of OneLegacy. “At Antelope Valley Medical Center, more than 3,000 lives have been saved, healed, or restored through organ, tissue, and cornea donation.”
This year’s ceremony also honored the life and legacy of Micah Moyer, a local aspiring baseball player who tragically lost his life at the young age of 17. Known for his kindness and willingness to help others, his family honored his wishes to donate, where Micah was able to save five lives by donating his heart, kidneys, liver, and pancreas. During the ceremony, Antelope Valley Medical Center was gifted the floragraph that appeared on the 2026 OneLegacy Donate Life Rose Parade® float in tribute of Micah’s impact.
