Cardiac arrest can happen anytime, anywhere — and immediate CPR can significantly improve survival rates.
(LANCASTER, Calif., June 3, 2026) — In recognition of National CPR and AED Awareness Week, Antelope Valley residents were invited to learn how to save a life during a free CPR training event. Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC) provided live “hands-only” CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) demonstrations, empowering community members with the skills and confidence needed to respond quickly in an emergency.
The event was supported by the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Fire Station 33, whose team attended and helped demonstrate the importance of lifesaving CPR skills to the community.
In one year, an estimated 436,000 Americans die from a cardiac arrest. However, according to the American Heart Association, immediate CPR can double or even triple the chance of survival from an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
“Every second counts in a cardiac emergency, and CPR training can mean the difference between life and death”, said Edward Mirzabegian, Chief Executive Officer, Antelope Valley Medical Center.
As an Institute for Heart and Vascular Care, Antelope Valley Medical Center is committed to not only treating complex heart conditions, but also educating our community with the life-saving skills needed in a critical cardiac event.
