Power in Pink - Breast Cancer Awareness & Educational Event

Power in Pink - Breast Cancer Awareness & Educational Event

This year's breast cancer awareness event was a big hit! We had a total of 188 individuals RSVP for the event, with numerous breast cancer survivors attending this year.

We are grateful for our wonderful planning committee who were an integral part of making sure this event went off without a hitch. Thank you to our AVOIC, Antelope Valley Cancer Center, Antelope Valley Partners for Health, Bartz-Alta Donna, HDMG, City of Hope, the American Cancer Society, Kaiser, and AVMC marketing & cancer teams for all of your hard work.

Also, thank you to our AVMC volunteers and Paraclete student volunteers for all of their help.

During this year's Breast Cancer Screening & Educational event, AVMC was able to provide breast cancer screening resources to the Antelope Valley community. Thank you to all that participated from the vendors to the community attendees. This year we had an added bonus of partnering with our local Macy's to help provide mammogram resources to those who may not otherwise be able to obtain them. Macy's presented us with a $4,000 grant to aid in the fight against breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, however by finding breast cancer early, it can reduce the risk of death by 30% or more. Mammograms are the gold standard in breast screenings and are recommended to be performed annually. As medical professionals we should always encourage our patients to schedule their screenings and follow-up with their physicians.
