Antelope Valley Medical Center Welcomes New Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

After an extensive national recruitment search, Antelope Valley Medical Center is thrilled to welcome Fred Vitello, Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Fred will be joining the Executive Management team at AVMC.

Fred brings more than 35 years of Healthcare Finance experience to AVMC. He will be responsible for the fiscal oversight of the hospital, enhancing our revenue cycle operations, focusing on growth of services, and financially preparing for the new hospital. Mr. Vitello will report directly to the CEO, Edward Mirzabegian, and will provide a monthly finance report during the Antelope Valley Healthcare District board meetings.

Throughout his career, Fred has successfully implemented financial improvement initiatives at hospitals all over the United States. In recent years, Fred has led numerous turnarounds and redesigns at hospitals in several states. Among other roles, he has previously held Chief Financial Officer positions in California, New York, Michigan, Massachusetts and the Virgin Islands. Prior to coming on board at AVMC, Mr. Vitello successfully provided financial leadership throughout the COVID-19 pandemic as interim CFO at Mad River Community Hospital in Humboldt County, California.

Originally from Philadelphia, Fred holds a Master’s Degree in Finance from La Salle University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at Temple University. Mr. Vitello is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
