Community Invited to Tree-Lighting Ceremony Dec. 1

  • Posted On:

Antelope Valley Medical Center will usher in the holiday season with its annual tree-lighting ceremony on Thursday, December 1, from 5-6 p.m.
The festivities will take place outside the main hospital entrance and will include:

  • Handbell choir
  • A visit from Santa
  • Telling of the AVMC Christmas tree story
  • Lighting of the tree
  • Refreshments

The AVMC Christmas tree is a live pine tree that was planted in front of the hospital more than 20 years ago to honor the memory of a young patient. Today that tree reaches into the sky and becomes an even more beautiful focal point when it is decorated for the holidays. To prepare for this annual event, the AVMC engineering department will spend two days decorating the tree with more than 2,000 lights and 100 decorations, including a star on top that will shine bright during the holiday season.

"We are once again looking forward to ringing in the holiday season with this heartwarming community event," said Daren Ayres-Malaj, AVMC director of admitting services and tree-lighting coordinator. "It’s a beautiful celebration that honors our patients, staff and entire community. We hope everyone comes out and shares in the festivities."
