Antelope Valley Medical Center Celebrates Nurses during National Nurses Week

We commend their compassion

(LANCASTER, Calif. — May. 8, 2020) — Nurses at Antelope Valley Medical Center are being shown extra appreciation during National Nurses Week (May 6-12), an annual celebration that recognizes the nurses for their contributions to health care and the patient experience.

“Antelope Valley Medical Center is grateful for all of our nurses and the commitment they make to our patients and our hospital,” said CEO Ed Mirzabegian. “We always appreciate their hard work and sacrifice, but even more so these past months as they’ve stepped up to meet challenges to providing health care during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.”

During the week-long celebration nurses have received Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, burgers from In-N-Out, Cliff bars, fruit and more.

“Nursing is one of the most rewarding careers people can choose, but it’s also one of the most challenging,” said Chief Nursing Officer Stephanie Herider. “This year’s theme of ‘Compassion, Expertise, Trust,’ celebrates important qualities that help nurses excel. Our nurses have exemplified these qualities as they serve on the front lines of care during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

National Nurses Week culminates on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. This year marks her 200th birthday and has been declared the Year of the Nurse.
