After a rigorous, unannounced onsite survey, Antelope Valley Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for hospital Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal of Approval is a nationally recognized symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization's commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.

“Staff involvement in this process is vital to the success of our accreditation. I applaud our team that make it their mission to provide quality, compassionate, safe, and patient-centered healthcare,” stated Antelope Valley Medical Center, Chief Executive Officer, Edward Mirzabegian. “We're pleased to have received our re-accreditation from the nation's premier healthcare quality improvement and accrediting body.”

During the review, a team of Joint Commission expert surveyors assessed compliance with hospital standards related to several areas, including emergency management, environments of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, information management, life safety, nursing, and medication management, to name a few. Surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews. The accreditation is awarded for a three-year period, and applies to Antelope Valley Medical Center’s main hospital, the Women and Infants Pavilion, the OB/GYN Outpatient Clinic, the Outpatient Wound Care Center, and the Antelope Valley Home Care.

“As a heath care accreditor, The Joint Commission works with health care organizations across settings to help improve patient safety and quality of care through our expert resources and tools, innovative solutions and rigorous standards,” says Deborah Ryan, MS, RN, interim executive vice president, Accreditation and Certification Operations, The Joint Commission. “We commend Antelope Valley Medical Center for its commitment to advance safety and quality for all patients.”
