Mental Health Lecture: PTSD

  • Posted On:

Roger Girion, PhD will present “Powerful Parenting” at 7 p.m. May 22 at the Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC) Community Resource Center, 44151 15th Street West in Lancaster. The free hour-long lecture will help parents:

  • An overview of post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • The process of helping those suffering with PTSD to manage the behavioral, emotional, cognitive and physical responses to a traumatic event.
  • Places and resources to seek help.

“About eight million people in the U.S. have PTSD, and anywhere from 11 to 20 percent of military personnel who fought in recent conflicts suffer from PTSD,” said Dr. Girion. “PTSD can impact anyone, and this presentation will help give those suffering from this disorder the coping skills needed to heal and recover.”
