Focused on your child's overall well-being, our 22-bed pediatric unit includes a parent lounge and pediatric playroom to make hospital visits less stressful and more reassuring, in a safe and engaging environment. Our treatment area allows your child’s room to be a safe zone, where they can rest and recuperate without fear. Specially trained pediatric nurses, alongside our pediatricians collaborate with pediatric hospitalists who are available 24/7, ensuring your child receives continuous, compassionate expert care.

Our pediatric team includes a certified Child Life Specialist, dedicated to supporting children and families throughout their hospital stay. Focusing on children's emotional well-being, our Child Life Specialist helps calm children’s fears and anxieties using age-appropriate play therapy, stories, toys, games, music, art, and imagination.

Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP)

Antelope Valley Medical Center is the only hospital in the area approved by the County of Los Angeles as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP), which means we are ready to treat infants, children, and adolescents with serious illnesses or injuries at any time. Our nurses and physicians are trained in pediatric emergency medicine, and equipped with tools designed just for kids.

California Children’s Services Approved Hospital

Our Pediatric Department is a California Children’s Services (CCS) Approved Hospital, which means the department meets the standards and requirements for the state program. Antelope Valley Medical Center is the only hospital in the area with this designation.

Pediatric Unit Visiting Hours

Parents and guardians are welcome anytime, because we know your presence matters most. For added comfort, one adult visitor may stay overnight with your child.
